Ultem is the commercial name for thermoplastic polyimide (PEI), originally developed by General Electric, and is one of the best all-round plastics.

 

Among all FDM thermoplastics, ULTEM 1010 resin is one of the best performing, offering almost the highest tensile strength, chemical resistance and heat resistance. The material is certified as biocompatible and has been certified to NSF 51 and ISO 10993/USP Class VI for food safety in contact with food.
